Learn to step back, so your child can step up.
Parenting is filled with both wonderful and incredibly difficult moments. As parents, we feel a sense of urgency and importance in helping our children develop independence and agency. We all want our children to build competence in utilizing academic, independent living, and executive function skills to succeed in school and beyond.
We are all guilty of doing things for our children because it is easier than making the changes in ourselves and releasing responsibility to our children, which will foster independence and grow executive function skills. Children gain self-confidence and resiliency when given the opportunity to gradually take on new responsibilities, problem-solve, and self-advocate. A parent coach is someone to learn with and lean on as you develop practical strategies and techniques to implement at home, as you work to develop these skills in your children. Parent coaching helps parents step back, allowing children to step up.
I work with parents, helping foster an understanding of how executive function skills, such as planning, organization, time management, motivation, and problem-solving, develop and work. Learning and mastering these new skills requires patience and practice for both the child and the parent. We co-create strategies to help support your child's development in these areas. We design a supportive, safe environment that fosters opportunities to build independence. The earlier these skills are developed, the better-equipped children are to handle life's challenges.
I work alongside parents to establish an environment that fosters the development of their child's "toolkit" of strategies and skills to draw from while working towards self-set life and academic goals. I work with parents to interact with their children from a coaching lens. Each family is unique; thus, I do not have a set program that I take parents through. Instead, I design an individual plan for each session, working with parents to select techniques and strategies that are a fit for their situation. Building a relationship of trust and respect is vital for our work together as we co-create plans to reach goals and continue to tweak the plan based on reflection of real-life happenings between sessions.

I look forward to being a part of your village of support on your journey toward building your child's independence and academic executive functions. More importantly, I am excited to celebrate your child's growth with you!
